Welcome To the course creators, HQ podcast, helping you navigate the latest techniques for creating and marketing online courses. And now here's your host. Julie Hood. Today is the last call to get started with the 24 hour course creator program that is starting next Monday on January 25th, 2021,

And I'd love to have you there now onto today's episode. I want to talk about the five reasons that we need your course live and out there today, or as soon as possible.

 

And the reason number one is that you can change the world with your course. Steve jobs always talked about wanting to use apple to make a dent in the universe, and you can make your own dent in the universe with an online course, because every time that you are able to help someone be a better parent, be a better business owner, even just learn a new way to have fun with their children to improve their home.

 

There's so many things that, you know, that could help make someone else's life a little bit better, and you can use an online course to help spread that message. I found this great quote from an American poet called, his name was at Rod McEwen, and he said that "it seems to me that it's every man's obligation to make what contribution he can."

 

So use your course to make a contribution to the world. The second reason we need your specific course is that your unique technique, your method, and most of all, your experiences will make sure that your course will resonate with the right people and the ones who need it the most. And I mentioned this because a lot of folks will say, well,

 

there's already courses out there that talk about my topic and that's great. Actually you want there to be a market for what you're doing. You want people to be buying what you're selling. So that's fantastic when you find other courses, but yours will be unique to your experience. It will be unique to the way that you teach. It will be unique to the framework that you put together.

 

So that's fine. You know, I buy lots and lots of courses about all kinds of online marketing, and some of them are the same, same topics, but they're presented in a different way. They have a different set of checklist and a different way to approach it. But that doesn't mean I don't buy more. So I want you to take that out of your mind and not worry about the fact that there are other courses already out there,

 

because your experience will resonate with your audience. And I know another quote for this reason is from the author, Daniel H Pink, he wrote To Sell as Human and another book called Free Agent Nation. And his quote was that selling is helping people to do what they're already inclined to do. So think about that your audience and your students are probably already thinking about what it is that you want to teach them,

 

and you're going to help make it easier, faster, a better experience for them. So that's reason number two. Reason number three is I want you to have this as your own online insurance policy. So let me explain here, imagine for a moment that it's March 14th, 2020, and this was at the very, very beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. And I was so worried because so many business owners who relied on live events or live networking or live coaching,

 

where they would go into maybe a business and coach them were honestly freaking out because suddenly they were in shutdown and they could no longer do any of those live events. And I know a lot of them were doing some very fast pivoting to figure out how to get online, how they could sell things, how to get in front of their audience in a whole new way.

 

And I don't want that to be you. I want you to have this insurance policy in your back pocket so that you have an online course that you can either use for lead generation. Maybe it's a mini course that you give away for free. That if something were to happen, all you would have to do is turn up the advertising and get more leads to look at your mini course.

 

Or maybe you have a full fledged course that if you really, really need to, you could go ask some people to promote it and help generate some revenue in a hurry. So I, this insurance policy for every one of you that are listening so that you have that out there and have a way to protect yourself in case the worst might happen. So that's number three,

 

have your own online insurance policy with either a mini course or a regular course. And then number four is not only will your students benefit from your course, but your friends and your family and your community will also benefit because let's be honest. When you make more money, you will be able to do so much more. Your, your friends will, you can be the one that treats everyone to dinner,

 

or you can be the one maybe to even buy a new home for your family or get a new car or pay for your students, your, your children's college. All of those ways of pulling in more revenue to your business will benefit not only you. And honestly, it's fun to make more money, but you can also benefit everyone around you and especially all of the And especially all of the charities that you like to support.

 

I found a new one over the weekend that I'm so excited about. It's for ocean.com, the number four ocean, and what they do is when you buy their products, they pull a pound of plastic out of the ocean for everything that you purchased. So I'll put the link in the show notes in case you're interested, but I would love to be able to pull tons and tons of pounds of plastic out of the ocean because of my online course business.

 

So that's another little motivation for you to get yours created. And then number five, it's honestly really fun to share and connect with your students and make someone a little bit happier, a little bit wealthier, maybe a little bit more connected with the other students to give them an audience and a group to join. You can make them feel more confident and special and important because they are your student and who doesn't want to do that for other people on the planet.

 

I think we need a lot of help right now to improve things and having an online course where you are the instructor, helping your students is one of the very best ways to make things better. And I want to end this section with another quote, and it's said, we're born alone. We do need each other. And it's lonely to really effectively live your life.

 

And anyone you can get help from or give help to that's part of your obligation. And you'll never guess who said that I was shocked. It's the comedian Bill Murray said that quote. And I thought, you know, he he's right. If we can make things a little bit better, let's, let's try to do it over the weekend. I was actually talking with one of my new 24 hour course creators students.

 

And we were brainstorming about where he should focus because like all really talented entrepreneurs, he had a lot of really fantastic ideas. And one of the best things that we did was narrow down the right place for him to be focusing right now. We didn't say no to the other really good ideas. It's just, we wanted to find the one that was the best to focus on.

 

And at the end of the conversation, he said two things that really made my day. He said, I feel better already. And I got those two light bulbs in just a short conversation. So I want that to happen for you too. I want your course to be something that you're proud of, that you're able to put your dent in the universe and make the world a better place.
